This metal ring gasket is a solid metal gasket with an octagonal cross-section shape made of metal material by forging, heat treatment and machining. It has a radial self-tightening sealing effect and is a standard R-type metal ring gasket. Its working principle is to rely on the contact between the gasket and the inner and outer surfaces (mainly the outer side) of the flange trapezoidal groove, and to form a sealing effect by pressing.
The octagonal metal ring gasket is mainly in surface contact with the flange groove. Although it is not easy to fit with the flange groove compared with the elliptical ring gasket, it can be used again, and it is easy to process because the cross-section is composed of straight lines. At the same time, the hardness of the material selected for the octagonal metal ring gasket should be 15~20HB lower than the flange surface.
